A trip to Luang Prabang
From Vientiane, you can reach Luang Prabang by road, by more or less air-conditioned bus, by private minibus, or... by plane (Laos Airlines).
The bus journey takes almost 11 hours to swallow winding roads, and cross passes at an altitude of more than 2000 meters.
By plane: 40 minutes, not counting any take-off delays for reasons never really specified.
By choosing the bus as a means of transport,
you have the opportunity to take a look at mountain villages and their inhabitants, and also to realize that the level of poverty is extreme.
It is quite easy to find a Guesthouse in Luang Prabang, by internet for example....
Once settled, a short walk in the alleys of the area to get into the bath.
Clean, neat and tidy alleys, with many guesthouses and other restaurants, make this place a very popular tourist destination.
Pass this alley every morning in the early hours of the day
to have breakfast at the other end, is a real pleasure, especially since in Luang Prabang we find the fresh bread baguettes....
Like in Vientiane, we can see some traces of the French presence, and above all, the sale of bread in the streets...
something that doesn't exist in Thailand....
A public school in Luang Prabang
It's always nice to see a classroom.
Vat Xieng Thong, or the "Monastery of the Golden City".
The most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang. Its architecture is superb and its roof with superimposed plans is quite impressive.
A short excursion on the Mekong River allows you to discover some typical villages, lost in the middle of the forest or on the hillside or even to visit these villagers, always welcoming and smiling.
The kindness of the Laotian people, whether in restaurants, shops or the most remote villages, is truly remarkable.
30 minutes from Luang Prabang by tuk-tuk, the visit of the Kouang Si Falls is really a great time.
A ten-minute walk through a thick, humid forest takes you to a small paradise.
Taking a swim in this green and turquoise water is a delight.
It is a real treat to be able to settle under a straw hut, near the Kiuang Si Falls, and eat a sandwich salad with a Lao beer...
