Lake Naiharn Rawai

A beautiful place to discover

Travelling more than 10,000km to walk around a lake when the sea is only a stone's throw away may seem rather absurd. I agree.

That said, one can see things differently and take full advantage of this charming area... some people have understood this for a long time and many sportsmen and women, young and old, like walkers, joggers and other cyclists, come to wet their t-shirts!

In the morning, as soon as the sun rises, many amateurs attack their "tour of the lake" with great energy... the morning temperature is perfect for exercising and the surrounding calm is ideal to start a beautiful day.

One more day in paradise!

Others prefer to exercise in the evening after 4 pm... until nightfall... depending on the weather.

A small island that can be reached by crossing a small bridge offers, to the great pleasure of picnickers, joggers, petanque players and children, a well-shaded and very pleasant area. There are attractions for children, pedal boats for walking on the lake, in short, an absolutely charming little corner.

A sign reminds us that it is forbidden to smoke and to bring alcohol...

Lake Naiharn seen from the sky

As you can see on this view... the lake of Naiharn is located behind the beach... a few dozen meters away. A small adjustable dam system allows the lake to empty directly into the sea, forming a small river in which many children come to play (next picture)
The small stream formed by the overflow of the lake during the day...

 Let's go around the lake

 The little island

A small bridge gives access to a little island... some people go there to have a good time, others run by, and then also some petanque players who find there a very quiet place in the shade of the trees.

Opposite the small islet, you will see the temple (Wat) of Naiharn

 The Walk continues

If the island remains quite calm and rather isolated, it is on the small road that goes around the lake that most of the sportsmen or walkers come to relax, early in the morning (before the big heats) or at the end of the afternoon around 4 pm people.
You can walk, run or cycle there...
The tour of the lake is about 2km long, so everyone can do it according to their possibilities and desires.

The tour of the lake measures exactly (Google Earth): 2034 meters...

Some people will walk on the road that joins the windmill (direction Promthep) at about 1300m... but this circuit is a bit more risky as there are no pavements and you end up directly on the road.
Small difficulty... the road "climbs" towards the windmill (about 45m of difference in height)
You even run into acquaintances like chef Eddie...
A series of machines are available to sportsmen and women... to do stretching exercises, strength training...

 And even Aerobics

A little further on, an aerobics club for those who like to let off steam
At times, it is even possible to get a haircut...

 Refreshments, barbecues...

It is well known that in Thailand, one has, at any time, the possibility of refueling... either by a simple drink, or by small barbecues installed here and there... it is part of the folklore...

 Local fishing...

From time to time, one can also see locals trying to catch some fish or mussels for their evening meal...

And then a glance towards the beach... and that little stream that children like so much...
