Phuket Town, walking street

 Sunday: walking street animation

The Covid-19 is behind us, the ghostly streets are gone, the weekly bustle in the old town of Phuket Town is back. It feels so good.

My recent visit allowed me to see that the locals, expats and tourists were there, in great numbers, in very great numbers even.

Quite incredible, because I had never seen so many people. Thalang Road was a real anthill, and it was even difficult to progress on the few pavements that were still practicable...Despite this huge crowd, the atmosphere remained very good and calm which is already very positive.

I also discovered new establishments: coffe shop, bars, restaurants... Phuket Town remains for me one of the best places on the island.

The schoolchildren on duty are always very smiley and love to have their picture taken.
At the same place, almost at the foot of the golden dragon statue, some folk dances... the different groups follow one another to the sound of a traditional Thai music of course...
You can find everything... barbecues, frying pans for all kinds of food: shrimps, fish, crabs, chips...
Several artists who can take your portrait in a few minutes for a small fee...
An artist here, specialised in caricatures of people... he asks 300THB for such a portrait (about 8€)
The shops on Thalang Road are of course very busy
As you can see on this picture: Thalang Road is a real anthill...
A small tour in the Soi Romanee... where I discover a very recent building which must have been completed only a few weeks ago.
I am quite surprised considering the elegance of the place. There is a restaurant with Thai food. Seen like that from the outside, at first sight, it seems very welcoming. I'll go and try them very soon...
The decoration is really abundant, may seem a bit overdone... but why not. It's a novelty.
This new establishment is on the corner of Thalang Road and Soi Romanee... you can't miss it.
Time passes... night arrives little by little, the lights begin to take effect.
A little further along Thalang Road, we discover another very recent establishment. It used to be a simple passageway, a long corridor with a few vendors selling amulets and other gadgets.
As you can see here on the sign, it is called Buffer...
Of course, I can't help but enter this rather surprising and beautifully decorated place.
The atmosphere is welcoming and pleasant.
On Yaowarat Road, this new establishment called Hog's Head...
