Soi Ta-iad Chalong

 A special street in Chalong

From time to time, I pass by this street which connects the two main roads Chaofa East and Chaofa West... which are two roads starting from the Chalong roundabout, and which go towards Phuket Town (Chaofa East) and towards Central Festival (Chaofa West).

Each time I have been there, I have always been surprised by the number of establishments offering sports activities, mainly Muay Thai boxing or weight rooms, fitness rooms etc...

You can see a lot of boxers running along this street as a warm up for their upcoming training session, you can find shops selling sports goods, mainly boxing equipment and clothes... and I think that, without being a connoisseur, the boxing gloves or shorts you can find here are of a much better quality than what you can find in the street markets of the city.

There are of course a few massage parlours but not too many, a few bars but not too many either... small restaurants, small shops selling fruit juices, one could say without being mistaken that this is a street of sportsmen, moreover most of these young people that one crosses are rather of the type of ice-cream maker to whom one loses very quickly the desire to create problems unless one runs much faster than them and longer...

I have just walked a good part of this street and I have brought back some pictures to show you the style and the atmosphere.

I think that for those who want to spend a sporty holiday: physical training or training for boxing or equivalent... this place is worth a visit to find out more and why not find the right formula for a few days of energetic fitness.

The Soi (street) Ta-iad as you see it is a small street about 1.5km long...
Soi Ta-iad Chalong
You will find several shops selling items mainly related to Muay Thai...
You will also find some bars but not very busy... nothing to do with Patong, here, it is not the same clientele.
You have several Thai boxing camps including this one...
Also scuba diving shops offering excursions, or learning and passing exams to obtain degrees...
I noticed several small vendors selling fruit and fruit juices... nothing like that for sportsmen
Here too, you will have a wide choice of boxing equipment
A poster informing about a boxing night at Rawai Boxing Camp...
A great classic here in Thailand: the sale of petrol in used whisky bottles... although the cost is higher, it can help if you are far from the petrol station...
Another Thai boxing camp... almost at the end of the Soi...
