Authentic Khon-Kaen

Khon Kaen, is the 10th largest city in Thailand (141,000 inhabitants) and the province of the same name ranks 3rd with 1,733,400 inhabitants...

This whole region of northeastern Thailand is called the Isan Country, a place where people "speak Isan", a kind of dialect

Here, we are far from the scams of the seaside resorts (Pattaya, Phuket etc)

The Isan country has kept a "natural" side, people are (really) smiling without there being any ulterior motives....

This series of photos taken in a very commercial area (street market) in Khon-Kaen, is one of my favourite series. It gives the impression of being in a completely different era, another century. The people are calm, extremely natural, welcoming, smiling and let themselves be photographed without the slightest hesitation.

A real pleasure, an unforgettable memory.

One of the places of interest in this city is this very "lively" area, namely the daily market,a place where you can meet very natural people, with their own habits and rhythm of life.

The market in an alleyway as we see it everywhere in these Asian countries, a common and very typical image

and then, I like these "rickshaws", no engine, no fuel, no pollution... it's like going back to the beginning of the last century...

Tuks-tuks in which everyone finds it easy... while waiting for the customer to read the newspaper for several hours...

or take a nap... Thai people are people who are able to sleep in all kinds of conditions.... the noise does not disturb them at all....

All you have to do is get a little bit out of the city to find yet another world... a quiet fisherman in the middle of a river, far from traffic and human anthills

I also like this kind of landscape: the countryside...
